Notes

'Emergency Flare' peony (Paeonia 'Emergency Flare') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It blooms in early to late spring and attracts butterflies. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Jackmanii clematis, Korean spice viburnum, Poppy, and Buffalo grass.
