Notes

'Emperor I' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'Emperor I') is a tree for borders, specimens, containers, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows slowly into a broad tree with fall color. Bees and birds visit it, and it tolerates drought. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Midwinter Fire common dogwood, Spring snowflake, and Bracken.
