Notes
'ES14' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'ES14') is a shrub for cut flowers, shade gardens, foundation plantings, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Blue or pink blooms open from early to late summer, and the plant grows at a rapid rate. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It is salt tolerant, so it suits sites with salty air or spray.
Pairs well with June hosta, Aureola Japanese forest grass, Autumn fern, and Lenten rose.
