Notes

'Fire and Ice' carnation (Dianthus 'Fire and Ice') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil of most types. The fragrant flowers draw butterflies and bees, and the evergreen foliage looks good all year. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It also tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Deep Blue Clips tussock bellflower, Lavender, and Blue fescue.
