Notes

'First Lady' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'First Lady') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, deep pink double flowers open in early to mid summer. Each strong stem carries one main bud, so the blooms are good for cutting. Carl G. Klehm bred it in 1970.

Pairs well with Spotted dead nettle, Ostrich fern, and Grape hyacinth.
