Notes

'Five Star' peony (Paeonia 'Five Star') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The rose red blooms over cream with dark flares open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Blue fescue, Korean spice viburnum, and Greig's tulip.
