Notes

Fuzzy deutzia (Deutzia scabra) is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White, fragrant flowers open in spring and again in summer, and they draw butterflies and bees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Give it room to spread.

Pairs well with Smoketree, Japanese forest grass, and Ox-eye daisy.
