Notes
'Candidissima' fuzzy deutzia (Deutzia scabra 'Candidissima') is a shrub for borders, hedges, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant blooms open in spring and again in summer, and they draw butterflies and bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Its arching shape needs room to spread.
Pairs well with Bartzella peony, Smoketree, Japanese forest grass, and Jackmanii clematis.
