Notes

'Gilt Edge' toad lily (Tricyrtis hirta 'Gilt Edge') is a perennial for borders, shade gardens, and woodland settings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Its arching stems grow 24 to 36 inches tall, and the leaves have gold edges. White flowers spotted with purple open late in the season, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit them.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Lady fern.
