Notes

'Tojen' toad lily (Tricyrtis hirta 'Tojen') is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland settings, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Its arching stems carry lavender flowers spotted purple from summer into autumn. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows slowly, so give it time to fill in.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Elegans hosta.
