Notes
'Green Gem' buxus (Buxus 'Green Gem') is a shrub for hedges, borders, containers, and formal gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 18 to 24 inches tall and wide in a rounded, compact form. The evergreen leaves stay green through winter, and yellowish-green flowers open in spring for bees. Rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.
Pairs well with Lenten rose, Carnaval De Nice tulip, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Nelly Moser clematis.
