Notes

'Winter Gem' buxus (Buxus 'Winter Gem') is a shrub for hedges, foundation plantings, formal gardens, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Small spring flowers attract bees, and the evergreen leaves stay green through winter. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything. Give it room to reach about 36 to 48 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Hicksii yew, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta.
