Notes

'Grenadier' apple (Malus domestica 'Grenadier') is a tree for a food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Grow it for cooking, apple jam, and juice, since it cooks down to a cream-colored puree with a good apple flavor. The fruit ripens early and keeps only about a week, so pick it over several weeks. Pink spring blooms attract bees.

Pairs well with Garlic chives, Lupine, and Grape hyacinth.
