Notes
'Guiding Promise' clematis (Clematis 'Guiding Promise') is a vine for containers, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. It grows 3 to 4 feet tall, so it suits small spaces and trellises. Rich grape purple flowers with raspberry edges open in late spring and early summer, then again in early autumn. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Incrediball hydrangea, Little bluestem, and Jeana garden phlox.
