Notes
'Gwen' avocado (Persea americana 'Gwen') is a tree for the food garden, grown for its buttery fruit. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun. It is a Hass type with slightly larger, plump, oval fruit and a nutty flavor. It needs a B Type avocado nearby for cross pollination. Pruning keeps it smaller than its natural 10 to 15 feet.
Pairs well with Sichuan pepper, Arabian jasmine, and Staghorn fern.
