Notes

'Harvard Crimson' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Harvard Crimson') is a fragrant perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The semi-double flowers open a rich crimson and age to rosy crimson, with a few golden stamens in the center. Each large bloom sits erect on a stiff, medium height stem. G. N. Smith bred it.

Pairs well with Limelight hydrangea, Grape hyacinth, Maiden pink, and Indian grass.
