Notes

'Holmstrup' American arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Holmstrup') is a shrub for hedges, privacy screens, foundation plantings, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows slowly into a dense, fragrant evergreen that keeps its color through winter. Birds visit it for cover.

Pairs well with Winterberry, Limeglow creeping juniper, Carlton daffodil, and Prairie dropseed.
