Notes

'Hon-beni' Japanese wisteria (Wisteria floribunda 'Hon-beni') is a climbing vine. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast and bears fragrant flowers from early to late spring. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Give it a sturdy support to climb, since a rapid grower gets heavy.

Pairs well with Royal Star star magnolia, Gladiator ornamental onion, and Royal fern.
