Notes

'Icarus' peony (Paeonia 'Icarus') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It bears pure red, single, fragrant flowers from spring into early summer. The center petals reach for the sky as the outer petals stretch out like wings. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Grape hyacinth, The President clematis, and Wormwood.
