Notes
'Imperator' common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Imperator') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, rosy red flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Plant it in clumps for the best show.
Pairs well with Carnaval De Nice tulip, Minuteman hosta, and Duchesse de Nemours peony.
