Notes
'Interstella' Japanese pieris (Pieris japonica 'Interstella') is a shrub for borders, containers, specimen planting, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen mound about 35 to 47 inches tall and wide, and the fragrant blooms attract bees and butterflies. It sits low on the menu for deer. Acid soil suits it best.
Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Lady fern, Japanese forest grass, and Japanese maple.
