Notes

'Irene Jones' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Irene Jones') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears dark red, rose type blooms that open earlier than those of Philippe Rivoire. It is a strong grower and a good bloomer. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it.

Pairs well with Blue Angel hosta, Woodland phlox, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
