Notes
Japanese hemlock (Tsuga diversifolia) is an evergreen tree for specimen planting, screens, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. It grows 30 to 40 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide, so give it plenty of room. It does not flower, and its needles stay green all year.
Pairs well with Catawba rhododendron, Lakeside Paisley Print hosta, Lady in Red lady fern, and Bergenia.
