'Jiu Zhou Feng Yún' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Jiu Zhou Feng Yún') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Each stem carries one double flower that can reach 8½ inches wide. The ruffled petals have dark purplish red flares, and the blooms are fragrant. Li Jiajue and Chen Dezhong named it for its large flowers and upright, dignified posture.
Pairs well with Clematis, Ostrich fern, and Black Parrot tulip.
