Notes
'Jonamac' apple (Malus domestica 'Jonamac') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its dense, moderate-growing branches bloom from early to late spring, and the flowers attract bees. Roger D. Way bred it in 1944 as a cross of 'McIntosh' and 'Jonathan'. The apples ripen in mid season and have good flavor.
Pairs well with Garlic chives, Kentucky bluegrass, and Blue fescue.
