Notes

'Karens' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Karens') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, containers, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 36 to 48 inches tall and wide with fragrant lavender-pink flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Give it acid soil.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Sum and Substance hosta, and Wild ginger.
