Notes

'Nova Zembla' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Nova Zembla') is a shrub for hedges, specimen planting, shade gardens, and woodland settings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Large, rounded trusses of red flowers with darker spotting open in early to late spring, and hummingbirds and bees visit the blooms. You can prune it after flowering. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Christmas fern, Green Spice coral bells, and Paperbark maple.
