'Kasane-jishi' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Kasane-jishi') is a shrub for borders and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double blooms open pink with buff edges in early summer. Cut a few stems to bring the flowers indoors.
Pairs well with Clematis, Ostrich fern, Pink Impression tulip, and Dawn redwood.
