Notes

'Kinshiden' flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa 'Kinshiden') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It blooms in early to late spring and sometimes in winter, and the flowers are fragrant. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Armenian grape hyacinth, and First Knight fountain grass.
