Notes
'Lepidota Cristata' wood fern (Dryopteris dilatata 'Lepidota Cristata') is a fern for accents, shade gardens, and woodland plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade, average moisture, and loamy or clay soil. It grows 12 to 18 inches tall and forms an arching clump that spreads 12 to 24 inches. Growth is moderate, and it tolerates drought. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.
Pairs well with Lady fern, Little brown jug, Lungwort, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
