Notes
'Little Maiden' carnation (Dianthus arenarius 'Little Maiden') is a perennial. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun. Fragrant white flowers with freckled pink centers bloom in summer and again in early autumn, and bees visit them. Thin, blue-green, grass-like leaves form a low, compact mound. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Blue grama, Matrona october daphne, and Amazing Grace tulip.
