Notes

Lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium) is a shrub for borders, food gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The glossy leaves turn from red-green in spring to dark blue-green in summer and maroon-purple in fall. Birds and mammals relish the berries. Plant more than one to help the fruit set, and give it acid soil to prevent chlorosis.

Pairs well with Red Wings moss phlox, Arrowwood viburnum, and Red fescue.
