Notes

'Lucie Baltet' lilac (Syringa vulgaris 'Lucie Baltet') is a shrub for cottage gardens, specimen planting, hedges, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It blooms in early to late spring with fragrant flowers. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit it, and it tolerates salt.

Pairs well with David garden phlox, Kansas peony, and Christmas fern.
