Notes

'Mad Cap' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mad Cap') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single red flowers flush to white, which makes them unusual. Stiff, tall stems hold the blooms upright in late spring. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Dalmatian bellflower, Sedge, and Grape hyacinth.
