Notes

'Magenta Gem' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Magenta Gem') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears single magenta blooms with red tipped pistils and a slight fragrance. The stems are strong and the plant stays short at 22 to 24 inches. Krekler bred it in 1995.

Pairs well with Brown-eyed Susan, Ostrich fern, Sedge, and Black Parrot tulip.
