Notes

'Mary May' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mary May') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Berneche bred it in 1924. The Japanese type flowers are light aster purple and open in mid season. They sit high above the foliage on a medium size, spreading plant.

Pairs well with Perennial candytuft, Blazing star, and Western sword fern.
