Notes

'Merrill' magnolia (Magnolia loebneri 'Merrill') is a tree for borders, containers, and specimen planting, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant yellow flowers open from early to late spring. Bees and birds visit the tree. It grows at a moderate pace with an erect shape.

Pairs well with Korean spice viburnum, Liberty hosta, and Ornamental onion.
