Notes

'Mery Hughes' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mery Hughes') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is a Japanese type with white flowers and yellow staminodes. The blooms are large for the type and appear in late spring on tall plants. John Franklin Styer bred it in 1968.

Pairs well with Tickseed, Japanese spirea, Sedge, and Black Hero tulip.
