Notes

'Monarch' blazing star (Liatris ligulistylis 'Monarch') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. It forms a clumping mound of deep rose purple blooms that open in summer. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the flowers. It tolerates drought once established.

Pairs well with Blonde Ambition blue grama, Black Oil sunflower, and Maiden pink.
