Notes

'Mount Palomar' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mount Palomar') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The dark red Japanese type blooms are lustrous and have heavy substance, with the usual yellow markings. Flowers open early on tall, stiff stems. Edward Auten, Jr. bred it.

Pairs well with Lungwort, Grape hyacinth, Sedge, and Scentara Double Blue lilac.
