Notes

'Mountain Mist' carnation (Dianthus 'Mountain Mist') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant, smoky pink flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms, and the plant tolerates drought. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Spiked speedwell, Nodding onion, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Limeglow creeping juniper.
