Notes
'Mrs. E.I. Stahly' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mrs. E.I. Stahly') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The tall plant blooms in late spring with full double red flowers that stay compact and do not fade or burn in the sun. The blooms open reliably even though they come late. Ernest I. Stahly introduced it in 1951.
Pairs well with Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta, Sedge, and Lungwort.
