Notes

'Nachtmusik' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Nachtmusik') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, dark red flowers with black flares open in mid spring. Each stem carries one cupped bloom about 5 inches wide. Irmtraud Rieck bred it, and it grows up to about 39 inches tall.

Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Toad lily, and The President clematis.
