Notes

'Near East' lagerstroemia (Lagerstroemia indica 'Near East') is a shrub for pollinator gardens, specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pink flowers open from early to late summer and in early autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The leaves also show fall color.

Pairs well with Chaste tree, Big bluestem, and Creeping thyme.
