Notes

'Newton Sentry' sugar maple (Acer saccharum 'Newton Sentry') is a tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense shape, and bees, butterflies, and birds visit the yellowish green flowers. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Lilac, Scarlet oak, Creeping jenny, and Star Gazer lily.
