Notes

'Nittany' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Nittany') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large, fragrant, bright pink flowers open in mid to late spring, one per stem. The petals are notched and ruffled with red flares. It shows some suckering, so you can remove extra shoots to keep it tidy.

Pairs well with Carnaval De Nice tulip, Blue fescue, Catmint, and Cinnamon fern.
