Notes

'Nivalis' flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa 'Nivalis') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The fragrant blooms open in late winter to spring and attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It grows broad and wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Armenian grape hyacinth, and First Knight fountain grass.
