Notes

'Nonpareil' apple (Malus domestica 'Nonpareil') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating and juice. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its flavor is like pear-drops, which is unusual in an apple. Bees visit the spring blooms, and you will need a second apple tree nearby for pollination because this one is not self-fertile. The fruit keeps for 3 months or more.

Pairs well with Hazelnut, Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Prairie dropseed, and Grape hyacinth.
