Notes

'Nontlobg' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Nontlobg') is a grass for specimen planting, privacy screens, windbreaks, and erosion control. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Its upright, nearly columnar form holds steady in wind and rain, and silvery plumes rise from mid summer to fall. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The foliage and plumes fade to straw-yellow in winter and shelter birds and insects, so cut it back in late winter or early spring.

Pairs well with Panicle hydrangea, Bowl of Cream peony, and Mock orange.
