Notes

'Original Flare' peony (Paeonia 'Original Flare') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen plantings, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Light yellow or cream blooms with pink edges and dark red flares open in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Derek Irvine bred it.

Pairs well with Catmint, Big bluestem, Jackmanii clematis, and Bells of Ireland.
